Greg Schwartz, the tour de force behind Uncontrolled Vocabulary (a weekly, interactive round table covering a diverse variety of library-specific topics), announced the show will be indefinitely going off the air.
I recently became a part-time librarian in a job very different than my previous library positions. In an effort to feel less like I am losing touch with the recent trends and the technological advances, as well as missing opportunities for professional development, I tuned in to Uncontrolled Vocabulary when I could. For those times, I was unable to listen live, I was a subscriber to the podcast, and I’d listen via my iPod to the week’s episode in the car while running errands, etc.
Having an 18-month-old (my main reason for the job change and moving to part-time), I completely understand and respect Schwartz’s priority focus.
In his blog post announcing the hiatus, he states that he is “willing to consider alternative arrangements (less frequency, guest hosting, etc.)…” I thank Schwartz for the time and effort he’s put into the show; and in the meantime, I look forward to the return of Uncontrolled Vocabulary.

Thanks for the positive words and well-wishes. Genuinely appreciated.
