moving & shaking…

Well, I finally got around to checking out LJ’s Movers & Shakers of 2009. I’m always excited to see colleagues and friends of mine recognized for their hard work, innovation, and devotion to the profression.

First and foremost, kudos to my two acquaintances from my UNC days have been recognized: Kim Duckett, a SILS classmate with whom I still have the pleasure to chat, and Pam Semmons from whom I had the great pleasure to learn while working the Davis Library Reference Desk.

One of the four “Garden State” Movers & Shakers is from one of the Mercer County Library System branches (which is the system in which I work). Many congratulations to Laverne Mann for being recognized for her innovative and successful marketing strategies.

This year, I recognized more names due to my increased involvement with social networking (e.g., Twitter, FriendFeed): Lori Reed, Michael Porter, Lauren Pressley, and Sarah Houghton Jan. While I’ve never MET any of them, I’ve had some micro-conversations with them, and I feel like I know them…at least a part of them. I’ve definitely learned from them. So, a huge congratulations (and thank you) to them as well!

It’s always nice to be recognized for good work, and I hope all the 2009 Movers & Shakers take pride being honored for their efforts to shaping the future of libraries.
