Dr. David Carr, the most thought-provoking professor from my library school days, recently taught his final class. His courses, discussions, and teaching have always provided “an opportunity for thought, inquiry and reflection about the institutions and constructions that surround knowledge”. I always felt his course objectives tackled the big picture — and sent us on our way with a better understanding of the “big picture” [especially of the complexity] surrounding libraries, museums, and cultural institutions in general.
While i feel his departure from the UNC-CH SILS program is a major loss for current and future SILS students, I am delighted, however, to learn that he is now blogging at Invisible Actions. He is taking his knowledge and teaching beyond the formal classroom.
And for that, I am grateful.

Although my interactions with Dr. Carr were few and years apart in occurrence, he will always be one of the most influential and inspirational mentors I have been blessed to come in contact with. He transformed the way I think, act and in turn teach.
Dr. Carr, wishing you all the best and eager to follow as you evolve in both your teaching and your learning.
